Mystical Journey

It is a challenge to come up with something new everyday. That's why I started this blog. I needed the challenge. Along the way some of you have supplied needed inspiration with your own posts, comments, games, photos and insights. Today I am traveling back in time with a song I wrote. I am giving you a modified version without the music. If I had to say, the genre is probably Country/Pop. To be truly country, as David Alan Coe told us in his song "You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'", I would need to include such items as drinkin', cheatin', trains, prison, Moma, trucks, and the such like. I have a group of songs I wrote when I was a thirty something and living in Austin, TX, knowing that Nashville was only a phone call away, and this is one of them. I know some of you play the guitar, so feel free to add your own tune. I have included photos for those who love flowers and birds. I used to have an Ovation guitar and when I finished singing, I would put it back on its stand. Someone stole it and I haven't had a standing ovation since. Once when my wife and I were travelling through Tennessee, we stopped in Nashville for the night and went to the Grand Ole Opry. I pulled my guitar out of the back of the car and took it into our room at the Ramada Inn and sang about three country numbers. From that time forward I could make a legitimate claim of having gone to Nashville for a while, where I played and sang. Please try not to cry during the reading or singing of this song.

MYSTICAL JOURNEY

Just a mystical journey in my mind,
visions I wish could be mine,
from a time long ago
when you loved me so
mystical journey in my mind.

As the mocking bird sits in the tree
and sings his happy song,
how I wish my heart could also sing
but something is terribly wrong.

As the rose opens up in the sun
kissed by the morning dew.
How I wish I could feel the
warmth of your kiss
like I did when our love was new.

As the lily stands in the field
with its beauty displayed in the light,
through my tears I can see your beautiful face
as my mind takes its mystical flight.

Just a mystical journey in my mind,
visions I wish could be mine,
from a time long ago
when you loved me so
mystical journey in my mind.
