Easter Everyday

This weekend Christians celebrate Easter.  We stop to remember the Old Rugged Cross. It is an empty cross.  The symbol of suffering and shame became the symbol of hope for all humanity. Jesus Christ gave his life on this cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  He rose again on the third day and a short time later ascended to join his father in heaven.  For many centuries people celebrated the creation of new life in the Spring with festivals that feted the gods and goddesses of procreation.  They worshiped the creation instead of the creator.  Jesus came to make it possible for all men to come into a personal relationship with God the Father.  So, on this Sunday we celebrate the resurrection.  For Christians, everyday is a resurrection celebration.  All men have had the penalty paid for their sin.  God only asks that we acknowledge the sacrifice paid by his Son, Jesus, and ask him to come into our hearts.  He gives us grace and the faith necessary to make this move.  We repent (turn around) from being controlled by our carnal nature and let Christ live through us to make us more like himself.  If you haven't done this, I hope you stop whatever you are doing and pray that simple prayer.  If you act in faith, God will honor his part of the promise.  This Sunday can be your celebration of a new life in Jesus Christ.  God doesn't want anyone to suffer an eternity without him.  This life is very short.  I hope you've insured your eternal life in the presence of God.  Happy Ressurection Sunday.

All human beings should try to learn before they die what they are running from, and to, and why.
