Little Critter Poems
Dragon Fly
A dragon fly
with bulging compound eyes
zigs, zags, and zips
across the sky
transparent wings a whir.
Landing lightly,
dainty,
sprightly,
on my shoulder now.
In kaleidoscope
it sees my face.
The Squirrel
He sits on a limb
in a small oak tree
in the back yard
at my home.
His big bushy tail
sways back and forth
like the arm
on a metronome.
I am mesmerized
by his deep brown eyes
as he looks back at
my own.
