NOT SO SPIRITUAL STRUGGLE
Today in church
my foot went to sleep.
The sermon was long
and not real deep.
The rest of me was struggling too,
but only my foot went to sleep.

If you think about it there are all kinds of "Thinkers". I've made a partial list; lateral thinker, critical thinker, great thinker, big thinker, positive thinker, liberal thinker, deep thinker, wishful thinker, and so on. But they must be hermits, because I rarely run across one. We all should take time to think. It is essential as we approach our upcoming elections. Don't take any statement at face value, rather question and research claims made by those who would lead us. We have become accustomed to being spoon fed by the media without questioning their sources or motives.
Intellect Neglect
Within the minds of some,
the light’s not often burned.
The switch so seldom used,
refuses to be turned.
the light’s not often burned.
The switch so seldom used,
refuses to be turned.
Thinking does take some effort and many of us have opted to take the easy way out. Try it sometime. The more you exercise your powers of critical thinking, the more you will be able to detect balderdash when it is proffered as fact.
Where Does Space End?
The thought
should be enough to give us pause.
A picture of eternity.
A tiring mind push.
So, we create reality.
A show to watch.
A triviality.
A gothic play
that lacks originality.
So much knowledge.
So little wisdom.
Perhaps if we had no food
we could focus.
We don’t leave the mirror
long enough to care.
Our lives are air.
It’s all about what’s fair.
Rights without responsibility.
It will not last.
It never has.
The cycle will repeat and
we’ll be forced to scratch
for scraps of bread.
And,
for a while we’ll understand
the beauty of a loaf.
