Beginnings

I am trying to keep myself attached to the tail of the information comet, so I am venturing into unfamiliar waters. I tried a MySpace page and when my children and their friends heard about it, they scurried about trying to clean up some of the content on their own sites. I was amused at the number of beautiful young women who wanted to be my friend. My wife was not. I eventually got hacked and started sending out porn site information to my friend list, so I withdrew my membership and searched for a more intellectual medium. One of my cousins has a very nice blog and I credit her with introducing me to this discipline. I live in deep south Texas very near the border with Mexico. Our climate is so close to the tropic zone, we have a nearly year round growing season. I am married and I have two beautiful daughters (one handsome son-in-law) and one grandson. I am a retired criminal investigator. I have taught school, been a private investigator, worked in the oil field, managed an adult day care facility, sacked groceries, and sold papers on the street. Since I retired I've enjoyed writing poetry, riding my motorcycle, playing golf, fishing, and engaging in activities I never had time for when I was working full time. I hope to master this vehicle for communicating also. I leave you with this poem I wrote for those of us who encounter others with whom we share our life experience.

ON MEETING SOMEONE OF LIKE PERSUASION

Greetings,
fellow traveler,
out of sync with time and place.

I know you.

The searching in your eyes.
The etchings on your face.

Was our meeting happenstance?

Or planned?

Oh, life’s mysterious dance.
