Home Sweet Home

Thanks for waiting.  Be it ever so humble there's no place like home.  We just got back today after logging over 3000 miles on the old Yamaha Road Star.  We left on Friday June 5th with another couple from Harlingen and trailered our bikes to Temple, Texas.  We left the following morning and cycled to central Louisiana.  Our trip then took us through Natchez, MS where we picked up the Natchez Trace and road it into southern Tennessee.  From there we toured North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi before starting our trip back.  We left our friends from Harlingen in North Carolina.  They headed north and we headed south into Georgia where we met up with Sparky and Wiregrass Steve.  Sparky blogs under the title "My Thoughts Exactly".  More pictures are available on her blog.  We had wonderful fellowship with our travelling budies, made new friends, and saw a lot of beautiful country.  We were gone eleven days and averaged around 300 miles per day.  We had one short day to rest and recover. The picture is Bebe and I standing in front of the Dragon sign at Deal's Gap North Carolina.  We rode the "Tail of the Dragon" from Tennessee into North Carolina.  It is a very twisting road with a plethora of difficult turns.  I only scraped my floorboards once on the trip across the mountian.  Riding a big cruiser double and loaded with all your gear is not the recommended setup for a great ride.  I think Bebe saw some beautiful scenes.  I was busy with the pavement most of the time.  We joined a parking lot full of other bikers at Deal's Gap and bought a tee shirt to comemorate the accomplishment.  I hope to stop vibrating in a day or two and regain some of my hearing.

It's hard to be nostalgic when you can't remember anything.
